Received disability check today which means that they have decided to approve my extension.*
Yay yay yay!
*Downside: I need to call them to confirm the length of the extension and their phone system has that cute little feature where you navigate through the maze and are then told, "we're sorry, the maximum number of people are on hold - please try your call again later. bzzzzzzzzz.
Dave and I headed over to the Elbo Room last night to see the DJs from this funk/old school hip hop
internet radio station (We Funk) that Dave listens to all the time.
Met up with some Voxers and some other friends while there.
The music was good, but I was just tipsy enough to turn that rating into "great" and next thing I know we're right against the stage dancing near the ScotchPants duo and many, many others.
It was so hot and so very much fun. Dave and I, who never dance, danced until the club closed.
Wheee!

The house I "helped" build when I was six.
The brush we cleared and the wood we cut every summer and fall to under Papa's watchful guidance.
Where I learned to fish, to crochet, and to ride a motorcycle.
Where I had a pet deer named "Bambi" despite his gender.
Where I knew all the monsters were just beyond the treeline.
Where I hoped to one day take Dave because the hills and lake are were very beautiful.

All gone now. Charred desolation remains.

At least we have pictures and fond memories.
We still haven't sorted out a date for the wedding, but we do know who the officiator will be: Richard (who does this awesome podcast, in addition to many other things).
I've known him for nearly 30 years and can't think of anyone more qualified. After we asked and he accepted, he went online (naturally) to see where he might be ordained since none of us follows any religion. Plus, his intended, Havi, is Jewish, so he wanted something that wouldn't conflict with that.
I am so effin' happy I went to him because he found the best possible thing: The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Their site is clever up the wazoo.
We think this means we should serve pasta at our reception...
I keep getting up, off the couch and the computer, wandering around the house looking at the various projects and my little notebook of notes on outside projects.
Then I just can't seem to do anything and I come back to the laptop and the couch. When browsing, I've discovered that I tug on my earrings. I know this because yesterday my tragus loop on the left side lost its ball and now the hoop is lodged in my ear by the space where the ball used to be. So I keep fiddling with it, trying to work it either in or out. And I lost our forceps during the last stroke trip. My ear hurts and it's very frustrating.
Meh.
Also, I can't just turn on my iPod to shuffle all - turns out I have a lot of crap on there. Crap that sounds even worse on the home stereo. Why doesn't the volume limiter actually limit the volume?
Alrighty, back to wandering around the house.

I was off the Coumadin for exactly one week.
Instead of baby aspirin (81 mg) I was taking regular aspirin (325 mg) for extra protection against my "sticky platelets."
Yesterday evening, I got up from a restless nap feeling a little weird.
By the time we had walked to Cala and back for dinner supplies (6 blocks total), I was feeling weird enough to tell Dave I thought something might be up. I meditated for a few minutes, took a Xanax in case it was just panic, then gave the word and we headed up to CPMC on Nob Hill (5 blocks away).
Yes, having a previous stroke is the quickest way to be seen at an ER, aside from actively bleeding on someone.
No, the three-hour window doesn't include the time for wondering if all the symptoms have prevailed long enough to warrant a trip to the ER.
I missed the window, but luckily it was a mini-stroke, aka a TIA.
They wanted to admit me because of their new stroke center, but Dave and I reasoned that since the hospital is so close, and the symptoms were subsiding, I could safely head home.
This morning, I was happy to open my eyes in our bed, with two cats and a warm hippy.
Apparently I am a lighting rod.
Now we get to search for the happy place between vigilance and paranoia. At least this makes the case for continued disability more obvious.
